The outside world is uninhabitable. To even speak of it is forbidden. Humanity has been reduced to a single silo buried underneath a wasteland of death and despair. 3 sections, 48 floors each, hundreds of feet below the surface. That’s it.
The only thing buried deeper, in this apocalyptic landscape, is the truth. To uncover it will mean the destruction of everything that is known to those who live and work in the silo.
Existence is about to get a whole lot more complicated.
Even though SciFi is not really my bag, for the most part, I enjoyed this one from Mr. Howey. It starts off pretty strong, goes into a bit of a lag in the middle and then picks back up slightly. The ending did feel a bit rushed and some of the “truths” that were revealed didn’t entirely gel with me. Still a good and well written story with some genuinely interesting concepts. 3+ Stars.
